The Aluminium Alloy Conductor Steel Reinforced (AACSR) is manufactured using either 6201 or 6101 aluminium alloys,  containing aluminium-silicon-magnesium (Al-Si-Mg) elements. These specialized alloy wires are stranded around a central steel  core, which can be galvanized, Galfan-Coated, or aluminium-clad. The strategic fusion of aluminium alloy wires with a steel core  yields distinct advantages, underscoring the versatility and strength of AACSR conductors. 

One of the most notable attributes of AACSR conductors is their remarkable tensile strength. When juxtaposed with traditional  ACSR conductors, the integration of aluminium alloy wires with a steel core engenders a notable enhancement, with tensile  strength rising by approximately 35% to 60%. This heightened tensile strength equips AACSR conductors to withstand greater  mechanical forces and environmental stresses. 

However, it’s important to note that this increase in tensile strength comes with a trade-off. The electrical resistance of AACSR  conductors is comparatively higher than that of ACSR conductors due to the incorporation of aluminium alloy wires. Despite  this, the unique combination of strength and electrical performance renders AACSR conductors particularly advantageous for  specific conditions. 

One such condition is when extended span lengths are a consideration. The enhanced strength-to-weight ratio exhibited by  AACSR conductors positions them as a compelling alternative to traditional ACSR conductors, especially in situations where  longer span lengths are required. This versatility ensures that AACSR conductors are well-suited for various applications,  providing an optimal balance between strength, durability, and electrical conductivity in transmission and distribution systems.
